Police estimated that roughly 60,000 people attended that demonstration. Reporting from the event described participants carrying wooden crosses and chanting “Christ is King.”
The wider march was political and included strong anti-immigration and anti-Islam messages from some speakers and participants, so the Christian imagery was part of a much broader—and at times controversial—demonstration.
Police later investigated alleged hate crimes connected with the day.
For Christians, the phrase “Christ is King” carries a meaning much bigger than any political movement.
