People are comparing Donald Trump to Satan, and the line attributed to Ice-T takes that insult to an entirely different level.
People are comparing Donald Trump to Satan, and the line attributed to Ice-T takes that insult to an entirely different level.
At first, it almost sounds like Trump is about to be defended.
“I can’t believe people are comparing Trump to Satan,” the joke begins.
Then comes the punchline: yes, Satan is evil—but apparently not evil enough to deserve the comparison.
The entire joke works by flipping expectations. Instead of arguing that comparing Trump to Satan is too harsh on Trump, it sarcastically suggests that the comparison is actually too harsh on Satan.
It is deliberately outrageous political humor, using exaggeration to make the criticism as sharp and memorable as possible.
There is no attempt at subtlety here. The message is basically saying that, in the speaker’s view, Trump has crossed so many lines that even the traditional symbol of evil would come out looking better by comparison.
Love the joke or hate it, one thing is obvious:
This is not mild criticism.
It is a full-scale political roast with the dial turned all the way up.
