US Embassy tells citizens to ‘LEAVE #IRAN NOW’

Published

on

The U.S. Virtual Embassy in Iran has issued an urgent travel advisory telling all American citizens currently in the country to “leave Iran now” if possible, as the security situation continues to deteriorate. The warning, posted on the embassy’s official channels on Friday, February 6, 2026, reflects growing concerns over safety, movement restrictions, and communications disruptions across Iran.

In the advisory, officials highlighted that increased security measures, widespread road closures, public transport disruptions, and ongoing internet blockages are actively affecting daily life and travel within Iran. Many airlines are also limiting or canceling flights with little warning, making departure by air increasingly unpredictable.

A News

The message from the embassy is stark: U.S. citizens should prepare an exit plan that does not rely on assistance from the U.S. government, given the absence of diplomatic presence or routine consular support in Tehran. Instead, the advisory suggests that if it is safe to do so, Americans should consider departing Iran by land, with routes to Armenia or Türkiye mentioned as possible options.

A News

Officials also warned that U.S. nationals face a significant risk of questioning, arrest, or detention in Iran, particularly if they are identified as Americans or linked to the United States. Those who cannot leave immediately were advised to stay in a secure location and stock up on essential supplies like food, water, and medication.

A News

The advisory also urged citizens to avoid demonstrations, maintain a low profile, and closely monitor local media and developments. With authorities continuing to restrict access to mobile, landline, and internet networks, travelers are advised to plan alternative ways to stay in contact with family and friends.

A News

This warning comes amid heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran and ongoing diplomatic discussions, including a scheduled round of U.S.–Iran talks in Oman. The U.S. government’s message is clear: prepare to leave now, before options become more limited.
