Andy Reid issues warning to Harrison Butker as calls mount for Chief to cut him

The Minnesota Vikings remain the only undefeated team in the NFL this season after both Kansas City and the San Francisco 49ers lost over the weekend.

It was a frustrating night for Chiefs head Andy Reid on multiple levels, as the Chiefs couldn’t break through Seattle’s defense, leading to Kenneth Walker skipping handshakes.

More concerningly for Reid and the Chiefs was kicker Harrison Butker, who missed two field goal attempts as concerns continue to mount.

Late in the second quarter, Chiefs cornerback Nohl Williams intercepted Sam Darnold’s pass and returned

Butker attempted a 58-yard field goal, but the kick fell short, keeping the score at 10-0 at half-time.

Butker got another chance in the fourth quarter, but the 45-yard attempt sailed wide and Seattle scored a touchdown on the following drive.

“He’s been one of the most consistent kickers in football,” Reid said after the game, via AtoZSports’ Charles Goldman.

“He’s off a bit” Big Red added, before issuing Butket a four-word warning, “got to fix it.”

Butker is now 11 of 16 in the 2026 campaign, and kicking field goals at his lowest success rate since 2022.

In his 10-year career, Butker has made 262 of 300 field goals at an 87.3 percent success rate.

“Warm-up wasn’t great,” Butker said after the game.

“It’s just something that you have to roll with and try to fix it in the game and do the best that you can.”

“Life of a kicker, it either goes in or it doesn’t. Unfortunately, there’s been some kicks that haven’t gone in.”

Butker signed a four-year, $25.6 million extension that runs through the 2028 campaign, but fans are calling for his axe from the team.

“This guy is so washed, when will Reid and everyone else realise this,” one fan said.

“I don’t quite understand why the Chiefs haven’t cut Butker yet, he is not reliable as he once was,” a second added.

“Nah, Butker has to go, this loss was embarrassing and made even worse by your inept kicking,” a third commented.

Next up for Butker and the 5-1 Chiefs is a divisional clash with the Denver Broncos.
